Clinical and translational Science Key to Mayo's Mission

Clinical and translational science (CTS) has been a foundational component of Mayo Clinic since its earliest days, when it emerged from the Mayo brothers' medical practice in the late 1800s.

Research and discovery are not an end, but a means to accomplish Mayo's primary mission — improving health — by recognizing that patient care and human health are optimized by a culture of inquiry applied to every aspect of clinical practice.
