  • Komal P. Singh, Ph.D., R.N., was accepted into the National Cancer Institute's Early Investigator Advancement Program (EIAP) as an EIAP Scholar. This highly competitive program accepts 20 to 25 scholars every year from across the U.S., in many different scientific disciplines. EIAP participation is a strong step toward submitting an R01 grant application.

He will present this Rapid Abstract Poster Discussion (RAPiD) at the 2024 State of the Science in Hospice and Palliative Care meeting.

  • Dr. Umberfield won joint award for nursing innovation and discovery

  • Dr. Umberfield and University of Minnesota assistant professor Robin Austin, Ph.D., D.N.P., D.C., RN-BC, FAMIA, FNAP, won a collaborative seed grant to encourage cooperation between Mayo Clinic's Division of Nursing Research and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.   • Dr. Umberfield worked with Mayo Clinic nursing administrator Matt D. Byrne Ph.D., M.S., R.N., C.N.E., on a grant application titled "Nursing Virtual Assistant for Individualized Nursing Care and Education Plan Generation." Their application was selected for funding through Mayo Clinic's Generative AI Program based on its uniqueness and strategic potential.

  • Dr. Conley's manuscript, titled "Daytime Symptom Trajectories Among Adults With Stable Heart Failure and Insomnia: Evidence From a Randomized Controlled Trial of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia," was accepted for publication in the Journal of Sleep Research.

  • Robert R. Bennett, Ph.D., joined the Division of Nursing Research at Mayo Clinic in Arizona on Aug. 7, 2023. Dr. Bennett develops digital media interventions to improve mental health outcomes among adolescents and young adults who have had cancer.
  • Dr. Umberfield invited to NIH Technical Experts Panel

  • Dr. Umberfield was named to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Technical Experts Panel for a project titled "Digitizing Consent and Regulatory Metadata Towards Streamlining Governance of Pediatric COVID-19 Research Data Linkages." The project was led by the Office of Data Science and Sharing at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, part of the NIH.

Singh, Ph.D., R.N., has been selected to receive the 2022 Sigma/Western Institute of Nursing Research Grant in the amount of $10,000 for her proposal titled "Investigation of Neuropsychological Symptoms and Changes in Gut Microbiome Physiology as Risk Factors for Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea in Patients With Breast Cancer."

  • November 2022
  • Dr. Tofthagen received Mayo Clinic's NIH Relief Grant for a project titled "Accelerated Resolution Therapy for Early Maladaptive Grief: A Clinical Trial." The NIH Relief Grant is supported by the Mayo Clinic Research Committee. It is intended to support some of the work proposed in Dr. Tofthagen's R01 application that is pending given the NIH continuing resolution.
  • Dr. Lindroth received NIH K23 funding for delirium project

  • Heidi L. Lindroth, Ph.D., R.N., received an NIH K23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award for her project titled "Harnessing the Power of Technology to Transform Delirium Severity Measurement in the ICU." This funding provides Dr. Lindroth with five years of support for the continued development of her skills and trajectory toward independent extramural funding.
