Neurosurgery and Skull Base Surgery

The Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery's Division of Neurosurgery and Skull Base Surgery has a long track record of collaboration on multidisciplinary projects. As critical contributors to Mayo Clinic's skull base team, faculty members from the Department of Neurologic Surgery in particular are intimately involved in the division's research.

The Division of Neurosurgery and Skull Base Surgery's collaborative research includes:

  • Basic science research
  • Prospective clinical trials
  • Anatomic investigations
  • Surgical outcomes research

On an ongoing basis, researchers collect prospective data on patients with vestibular schwannoma and patients undergoing anterior skull base surgery. The division conducts anatomical research in its shared dissection laboratory.
