  • Coronary Artery Calcium in PRagmatic EValuation of evENTs And Benefits of Lipid-lowering in oldEr adults (PREVENTABLE) Rochester, Minn.

    The purpose of this study is to learn more about your heart and coronary arteries (the vessels that supply the heart with blood).  Using a previously performed computed tomography (CT) scan (a special type of x-ray) of the heart or CT of the chest, researchers will look for calcium in your coronary arteries.  By measuring the amount of calcium present, researchers will make a measurement of your heart health. This information may help guide medical treatment in the future.

    The purpose of thhis study is to learn if taking a statin could help older adults live well for longer by preventing dementia, disability, or heart disease.

    A statin is a commonly used drug to lower cholesterol.

  • PREVENTABLE SPPB Ancillary Rochester, Minn.

    This is an ancillary study to the PREVENTABLE trial. The purpose of this ancillary study is to determine if statins affect longitudinal change in physical performance for those aged 75 and older. 

  • The PCORnet Blood Pressure Home Monitoring Study (BP HOME) Rochester, Minn.

    The primary purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of Smartphone-linked versus standard home BP monitors for helping patients with uncontrolled hypertension achieve a reduction in systolic blood pressure (SBP).

  • Heart Health in the Community: Multimorbidity and Outcomes Rochester, Minn.

    The purpose of this study is to evaluate the associations between social support and hospitalizations and assess whether social support interacts with coexisting conditions to predict hospitalizations. This study will also evaluate the associations between patient self-management and hospitalizations and assess whether patient self-management mediates the association between coexisting conditions and hospitalizations.
