Adipose Tissue Blood Flow of Older Adults

The purpose of this study is to determine the differences in basal and glucse responsiveness blood flow in upperbody subuctaneous adipose tissue of older adults will be compared to younger adults. Blood flow measures will be couple with adipose tissue biopsies to understand alterations in intraceulluar tissue pathways that might regulate blood flow. 

Elegibilidad para la participación

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Non-obese (BMI 20-25.0 kg/m^2) adults.
  • 10 young (18-35y) and 10 older (65-80y) with both age groups balanced for sex (5F and 5M each).
  • All subjects will not have cardiometabolic diseases (e.g., T2DM, HTN) and will not be taking anticoagulants, nor prescriptions or supplements that effect adipose tissue metabolism (i.e., statins, Thiazolidinediones, niacin, atypical antipsychotics, or fish oil).

Exclusion Criteria:

  • < 18 years of age.
