Clinical trials Below are current clinical trials.552 studies in Oncology (Medical) (open studies only). Filter this list of studies by location, status and more. Neoadjuvant Combination Targeted and Immunotherapy for Patients With High-Risk Stage III Melanoma Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this early phase I pilot trial studies how well vemurafenib, cobimetinib, and atezolizumab work in treating participants with high-risk stage III melanoma. Vemurafenib and cobimetinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Monoclonal antibodies, such as atezolizumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving vemurafenib, cobimetinib, and atezolizumab may work better in treating high-risk stage III melanoma. A third cohort of patients (Arm C) will receive tiragolumab and atezolizumab for neoadjuvant therapy, and atezolizumab alone for adjuvant therapy. YH001 Plus Envafolimab With or Without Doxorubicin in Patients With Advanced or Metastatic Sarcoma Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability and determine the recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D) of YH001 when given with envafolimab dosed at 600 mg SC every 3 weeks in patients with advanced or metastatic sarcoma who are refractory to or intolerant to other available therapies. Also, to evaluate safety and tolerability and determine RP2D of YH001 in combination with envafolimab dosed at 600 mg SC every 3 weeks and doxorubicin dosed at 75 mg/m2 every three weeks in patients with advanced or metastatic sarcoma who have not received doxorubicin or checkpoint inhibitors and are refractory to or intolerant to other available therapies. A Study of Subcutaneous Nivolumab + Relatlimab FDC in Previously Untreated Metastatic or Unresectable Melanoma Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate pharmacokinetic non-inferiority for nivolumab + relatlimab FDC SC (fixed-dose combination for subcutaneous administration) formulation versus nivolumab + relatlimab FDC IV formulation. A Study of Biomarkers to Predict Cancer Therapy-related Cardiotoxicity Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The primary purpose of this study is to collect Biospecimens from patients who developed chemotherapy related cardiac toxicity (CRCT) and patients who are at a high risk for developing CRCT identified prior to the onset of therapy. Turkey Tail Mushrooms for women with ER+/HER2- Breast Cancer Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to determine changes in proliferation (Ki-67) in ER+HER2-breast cancers that receive turkey tail administration. Estradiol in Treating Patients With ER Beta Positive, Triple Negative Locally Advanced or Metastatic Breast Cancer Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this trial is to determine how well estradiol works in treating patients with estrogen receptor beta (ER beta) positive, triple negative breast cancer that has spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes (locally advanced) or other places in the body (metastatic). Hormone receptors like ER beta allow the body to respond appropriately to hormones. Triple negative means that the breast cancer does not express other hormone receptors called ER alpha, progesterone, and HER2. In some people with triple negative breast cancer, ER beta is overexpressed. Tumor cells that overexpress ER beta grow slower in the laboratory and this growth is slowed in the presence of estrogen. Estradiol is a form of estrogen. This study may help doctors determine whether tumor cells that overexpress ER beta shrink in the presence of estradiol. Cardiotoxic Effects of Chemotherapy in Patients with Sarcomas Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine if two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) derived-strain can detect early myocardial dysfunction and thus predict cardiotoxicity in sarcoma subjects undergoing anthracycline therapy and to compare three dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (3D-STE) to 2D-STE in the same group of patients. Randomized Phase II/III Trial of Adjuvant Radiation Therapy with Cisplatin, Docetaxel-Cetuximab, or Cisplatin-Atezolizumab in Pathologic High-Risk Squamous Cell Cancer of the Head and Neck Rochester, Minn. This randomized phase II/III trial studies how well radiation therapy works when given together with cisplatin compared to docetaxel or cetuximab and docetaxel after surgery in treating patients with stage III-IV squamous cell head and neck cancer. Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as cetuximab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or transmit tumor killing molecules to them. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy is more effective when given with cisplatin, docetaxel, or cetuximab and docetaxel. Study of Validated Biomarkers in Urine for Patients with Adenocarcinoma of the Prostate Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess the accuracy of DNA marker candidates (individually and in combination) assayed from urine and prostatic fluid (collected following digital prostate massage) for detection of prostate cancer. Testing Lutetium Lu 177 Dotatate in Patients With Somatostatin Receptor Positive Advanced Bronchial Neuroendocrine Tumors Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this trial is to study the effect of lutetium Lu 177 dotatate compared to the usual treatment (everolimus) in treating patients with somatostatin receptor positive bronchial neuroendocrine tumors that have spread to other places in the body (advanced). Radioactive drugs, such as lutetium Lu 177 dotatate, may carry radiation directly to tumor cells and may reduce harm to normal cells. Lutetium Lu 177 dotatate may be more effective than everolimus in shrinking or stabilizing advanced bronchial neuroendocrine tumors. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
