SUMMARY

Dominique B. Hoelzinger, Ph.D., has devoted her career to investigating the interactions between tumors and the healthy cells that surround them. For the last several years, this research has included understanding the function of tumor-secreted extracellular vesicles (EVs) as complex vectors for the transfer of cellular information from one cell to another.

Presently Dr. Hoelzinger is a team member with Practice Advancement of Regenerative Therapies in the Center for Regenerative Biotherapeutics at Mayo Clinic's campus in Scottsdale, Arizona. The teams provide support to clinical trials and the translation of concepts in the field of regenerative medicine.

Focus areas

• Extracellular vesicles (EVs). Dr. Hoelzinger's work involves isolating, quantifying and characterizing patient-derived EVs to be modified and used for regenerative biotherapeutic approaches.
• Cancer biology. Dr. Hoelzinger collaborates in the development of novel biotherapeutic approaches.
