Understanding Facilitators and Barriers that Impact Capacity and Workload for Caregivers of Metastatic Cancer Patients

About this study

The purpose of t his study is to better understand what caregivers encounter during the care of their loved ones, what they identify as facilitators and barriers, and what impacts their capacity to provide such care – an informing component to the science of healthcare delivery. Also, to identify practical issues related to caregivers’ capacity, both objective and subjective, beyond the existence of healthcare and educational resources often available in clinical settings.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Adults ≥18 year old individuals who are identified as caregivers of patients with metastatic cancer receiving palliative care and being treated at Mayo Clinic Florida.
The caregivers might be family members or designated/legal guardians or proxies of the patient who will be identified by clinicians at the Palliative Care Division within the Department of Family Medicine or by the Cancer Center at Mayo Clinic Florida.

Exclusion Criteria:

Non-English speaking individuals
Legally blind and hearing impaired
Unable to provide consent.
