A Study To Learn More About the Numbers of Specific Type of Cells (ILC2) Found in the Blood of Men and Women with Asthma

About this study

The purpose of this study is to learn about why asthma is different in men and women.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Atopic Asthma

Physician diagnosed asthma with demonstrated reversibility of bronchoconstriction.
- Patients should also have evidence of allergic sensitization via new or existing skin testing to aeroallergens or IgE serum immunoassay testing to aeroallergens.

Normal Controls:

Normal controls are healthy individuals with no history of allergy, asthma or sinus disease.

Exclusion Criteria:

Patients who have received systemic glucocorticoids during the past 4 weeks (topical not excluded)
Current smokers or within the past year (previous smokers must have < 10 pack/year history)
Diagnosed with an immunodeficiency or cystic fibrosis
Immunotherapy for any allergen
Pregnancy
