Education

The Mayo Clinic Van Cleve Cardiac Regenerative Medicine Program is working to create awareness about the field of regenerative medicine and generating interest in the community by providing education to current and future generations of patients, caregivers, scientists, engineers and allied health staff members.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Training Grant Programs

NIH training grants at Mayo Clinic support the training of outstanding clinician-scientists in clinically relevant research areas. The Cardiovasology Training Program, directed by Andre Terzic, M.D., Ph.D., provides mentored training to prepare physicians and scientists for independent research careers in cardiovascular medicine and biology, including cardiac regenerative medicine. Research training is aimed at improved prevention, diagnosis and treatment of individuals and the public at large.

Regenerative Medicine Minnesota (RMM)

With funding from Regenerative Medicine Minnesota since 2015, researchers from the Mayo Clinic Van Cleve Cardiac Regenerative Medicine Program are sharing a uniquely designed regenerative medicine curriculum with teachers, students and educators in southeastern Minnesota. Program researchers provide basic, fact-based information about stem cells and regenerative medicine in fun, interactive and age-appropriate learning experiences.

Through this collaborative effort, the research team aims to increase awareness about the field of regenerative medicine and to engage and inspire the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians (STEM) in Minnesota. The program has expanded to include Mayo Clinic's High School Career Awareness Program and the Mayo Clinic Division of Engineering.
