Point of Care Lateral Flow Assay for Coccidioidomycosis

The purpose of this study is to test the accuracy of a point-of-care lateral flow assay for coccidioidomycosis. In seropositive patients, we will take 1 drop of blood for the lateral flow test, and compare to results of the complement fixation/immunodiffusion test (standard assay) that is conducted within 2 weeks of the lateral flow assay.

Elegibilidad para la participación

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Proven or probable coccidioidomycosis
  • Coccidioides seropositive with a detectable complement fixation titer and immunodiffusion within 3 months from study enrollment
  • With or without active coccidioidal symptoms at the time of blood collection.
  • Patient may be in receipt of  antifungal treatment or observation without treatment.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Immunosuppression where antibody production is anticipated to be compromised, either by underlying or acquired comorbid illness (such as but not limited to multiple myeloma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia or other hematological cancers, common variable immunodeficiency) or by medications (such as but not limited to receipt of rituximab).
  • Unable or unwilling to consent to study.
