Longitudinal Changes in Islet Function During Pregnancy

Overview

Información sobre este estudio

In this study we will study 120 pregnant women with a BMI >/= 25kg/m2.

The aim is to understand the changes that occur in endocrine pancreatic function during pregnancy. We are recruiting women with an elevated BMI as they will be at higher risk for GDM and following completion of the study we will be able to compare differences in glucose metabolism between those who did and did not develop GDM.

Patients will be identified and contacted by reviewing schedules in the OB clinic and through advertisement. We will only include individuals who have an ultrasound confirmed single pregnancy with no complications and no history of diabetes.
