Evaluation of a Tele-Language Rehabilitation Program

The aims of this study are to assess the feasibility of and satisfaction with providing a tele-rehabilitation service directed at language disorders in individuals with stroke and measure the change in language function.

Elegibilidad para la participación

Los requisitos de elegibilidad de los participantes incluyen la edad, el sexo, el tipo y el estadio de la enfermedad, y los problemas de salud o tratamientos previos. Las pautas difieren de un estudio a otro e identifican quiénes pueden o no pueden participar. No hay garantía de que cada persona elegible que desee participar en un ensayo se inscribirá. Inclusion criteria:

  • At least 6 months and no more than 5 years after stroke
  • Expressive difficulties such as anomia or lack of fluency
  • Comprehension of simple instructions
  • English proficiency
  • At least 8 years of formal education
  • Basic ability to independently use the tele-system
  • Having a personal computer, with Internet access (10 MBps) at home.
  • Presence of a family member or caregiver willing to participate
  • A clinician participatnig in the clinical intervention

Exclusion criteria:

  • Major dementia
  • Untreated major depression.
  • Hemianopsia or major disability in visual perception
  • Other medical conditions that affect the central or peripheral nervous system
  • Psychiatric background that would limit full participaton
  • Treatment by Speech and Language Pathology Therapist in another setting during the study period
