A Study Comparing the Reliability of Measurements of the Ischiofemoral (hip) Space Between Ultrasound Operators with Different Levels of Experience

Overview

Información sobre este estudio

The ischiofemoral space (IFS) has been evaluated with radiographs, CT, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Recent studies have questioned the reliability of IFS measurements taken without controlling hip position. In recent years the utilization of outpatient musculoskeletal ultrasonography (MSK US) increased has increases dramtically. MSK US offers many benefits to a musculoskeletal practice, including rapid diagnosis of disorders of bones, joints, tendons, muscles, ligaments, blood vessels, and nerves, as well as the ability to guide interventions to treat these structures. The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the inter-rater and intra-rater reliability of US measurements of the IFS.  A secondary aim is to determine whether operator experience affects the inter-rater or intra-rater reliability of these measurements.
