Crum.Brian@mayo.edu Clinical Profile

SUMMARY

The research interests of Brian A. Crum, M.D., are primarily neuromuscular diseases, focused on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, myasthenia gravis and inclusion body myositis.

Focus areas

  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. What is the progression of the disease in each individual, and how can previous clinical data be used to help predict progression in a single individual?
  • Myasthenia gravis. What are the optimal long-term treatments for the disease?
  • Inclusion body myositis. What is the expected disease progression, specifically the progression of swallowing problems, and how may these symptoms be able to be treated?

Significance to patient care

The ability to educate patients on their individual disease course is a powerful tool for preparation and planning. Additionally, contributing to how clinical trials are designed and carried out for these diseases.
