SUMMARY

The dermatologic clinical and research interests of David A. Wetter, M.D., include autoimmune connective tissue diseases and rheumatologic skin diseases (lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, vasculitis, morphea and other sclerosing skin conditions); medical dermatology; hospital dermatology; cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease; and use of systemic medications to treat dermatologic disease.

  • Erythema multiforme
  • Treatment-refractory cutaneous lupus
  • Life-threatening drug eruptions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis
  • Paradoxical autoimmune side effects of tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors, including psoriasis, lupus and vasculitis

Significance to patient care

Dr. Wetter's clinical research strives to provide information to patients about rare and severe dermatologic conditions; describe effective therapies for patients with difficult to treat dermatologic conditions; and create new knowledge and understanding that will help health care providers across the world improve treatment of patients with medical dermatologic skin diseases.
