SUMMARY

The research interests of Elitza S. Theel, Ph.D., are in the development of new serologic assays and the evaluation of currently available serologic testing methods to aid in the diagnosis of a variety of bacterial, viral and fungal infectious diseases.

Focus areas

Dr. Theel's research focuses on the development and evaluation of serologic assays for the diagnosis of infections caused by:

  • Borrelia burgdorferi
  • Histoplasma capsulatum
  • Dengue virus
  • Strogyloides stercoralis

Significance to patient care

Ongoing optimization of the currently available serologic testing platforms and development of new assays will help to better guide patient diagnosis and therapeutic management.
