SUMMARY

The dermatologic clinical and research interests of Olayemi (Yemi) Sokumbi, M.D., include health care disparities in dermatology, clinical-pathologic correlation of complex inflammatory skin disorders and quality improvement in dermatopathology. Dr. Sokumbi also studies hidradenitis suppurativa and cutaneous lymphoproliferative disorders. Additionally, she uses artificial intelligence to develop and assess deep neural network algorithms. This work drives advances in diagnosis and image classification in dermatology and dermatopathology.

Significance to patient care

Dr. Sokumbi's clinical research strives to improve diagnosis of complex, challenging and rare dermatologic conditions. Her work to describe and develop new treatment approaches, innovative diagnostic solutions and novel image classification techniques can help dermatologists provide better patient care by diagnosing diseases earlier and treating them more effectively. Dr. Sokumbi also aims to identify and address disparities in the diagnosis and management of dermatologic diseases.
