SUMMARY

The research of Jonas Paludo, M.D., focuses on lymphoid malignancies, with a special interest in Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia and mantle cell lymphoma — two uncommon forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Also, Dr. Paludo takes part in translational research, either by integrating new technologies into patient care management or evaluating new cancer-directed treatments through clinical trials.

Focus areas

  • Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia. Dr. Paludo investigates the effectiveness of various treatments for Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia and examines the outcomes of patients with this disease. Also, he studies the genetic mechanisms associated with the development of this malignancy.
  • New treatments for lymphoid malignancies. Dr. Paludo's work focuses on clinical trials and translational studies to enhance the treatment of different forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, particularly mantle cell lymphoma.
  • Remote patient monitoring. Dr. Paludo's research centers on improving patient care management after cancer-directed treatment by incorporating technology and wearable devices for remote patient monitoring.

Significance to patient care

The diagnosis and treatment of cancer are life-altering events. Finding new therapeutic options and improving the management of treatment-related side effects are important for patients with cancer. This is especially true for those with uncommon malignancies, such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Dr. Paludo seeks to evaluate new therapies for these diseases and understand how to better treat patients. He also strives to better manage the complications of cancer-directed treatments.
