SUMMARY

Shelley S. Noland, M.D., studies brachial plexus injury, peripheral nerve injuries, peripheral nerve tumors and Dupuytren's disease. She collaboratively studies novel and innovative nerve-repair methods. She also studies surgical ergonomics and surgical diversity.

Focus areas

  • Dupuytren's disease. Dr. Noland studies the relationship between Dupuytren's disease and trigger finger, as well as the therapeutic use of the enzyme collagenase clostridium histolyticum to treat this disorder.
  • Brachial plexus injuries. Dr. Noland studies clinical and psychological outcomes of the surgical treatment of traumatic brachial plexus injuries.
  • Collaborators. Dr. Noland collaborates with Marco Rizzo, M.D., and Alexander Y. Shin, M.D., at Mayo Clinic.

Significance to patient care

Nerve injuries can significantly alter quality of life. Looking for new and innovative ways to repair nerves and get patients back to their normal and desired activities has a meaningful impact to Dr. Noland.
