SUMMARY

The research focuses of Sounak Gupta, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., are on the molecular pathology of solid tumors, and on urologic neoplasias including cancer of the kidney, urinary bladder, prostate and testes.

Focus areas

  • Renal neoplasia. Dr. Gupta aims to better define understanding of rare subtypes of kidney cancer.
  • Hereditary oncology. The goal of this research is to improve understanding of urologic tumors that arise secondary to inherited cancer predisposition syndromes.

Significance to patient care

Dr. Gupta's research is directly linked to improving prognostication for rare subtypes of kidney cancer and is focused on identifying clinically relevant biomarkers. In addition, he is actively engaged in hereditary oncology-related clinical test development.
