SUMMARY

Enrique F. Elli, M.D., conducts research on surgical treatments for obesity and related diseases, focusing on new procedures and minimally invasive access. He also has a strong interest in the treatment of foregut conditions both benign and malignant, particularly the treatment of achalasia, hiatal hernias and gastrointestinal (GI) cancer. Lastly, Dr. Elli investigates surgical treatments for renal gland disorders and dedicates time to the innovation of surgical devices — creating and prototyping devices that will improve patient care.

Significance to patient care

The outcome of clinical research is crucial for improving patient care. Based on research results and experience, Dr. Elli and colleagues are constantly creating guidance and pathways to improve management of patients with obesity, foregut conditions, renal gland disorders and GI malignancies.

Through innovation, and the design and implementation of new surgical devices, Dr. Elli is also improving patient care; delivering new devices and techniques that will improve current outcomes.
