SUMMARY

Quyen T. Duong, Ph.D., joined Mayo Clinic as a faculty in the Cancer Center Statistics Unit after completing her doctoral degree in 2019. Dr. Duong's research interests are in designing and analyzing clinical trials in cancer. As a lead faculty biostatistician for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, she designs and conducts multiple clinical trials in the Cancer in the Older Adult Committee and the Symptom Intervention Committee.

Focus areas

  • Design and analysis of clinical trials. Dr. Duong provides statistical design, develops protocols and forms, and oversees study monitoring on patient safety, data collection, statistical analyses and publications.
  • Cure model in immuno-oncology. Dr. Duong is working to evaluate the properties of cure models in the context of immuno-oncology trials, and to provide practical guidance for trial designs using cure models.
  • Geriatric assessment. Dr. Duong is determining which domains are important in geriatric assessment to streamline future studies in the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.

Significance to patient care

Dr. Duong's work supports cancer clinical research within community settings and aims to improve the understanding of cancer in older adults and cancer prevention.
