SUMMARY

Jana L. Anderson, M.D., focuses on pediatric analgesia, pediatric sedation and shared decision-making. She studies the prevalence of pediatric pain and has found that it is responsible for over 19 million medical visits a year in the United States. In collaboration with others, Dr. Anderson performed a systematic review on intranasal fentanyl versus intranasal ketamine for analgesia. She developed a nitrous oxide use protocol for minimal sedation. Dr. Anderson described use of propofol and fentanyl for deep sedation for pediatric fractures. She developed a decision aid to help guide the conversation for treatment of children with simple acute otitis media (AOM).
