Overview

The Biomechanics Core on Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, provides a full range of mechanical testing, engineering design, analysis and fabrication services for research and commercial applications. Investigators and clinicians who use the core's services may be interested in determining the strength of tissues in response to clinical interventions, such as pharmaceuticals or surgery. Others are interested in how new devices, such as implants, or injuries may affect the motion of musculoskeletal joints and tissue properties.

The educational background of the Biomechanics Core team includes mechanical engineering, physics, biomedical engineering, movement science and computer programming. Areas of expertise are design and fabrication, material and kinematics testing, and data and image analysis.

The Biomechanics Core provides services to all Mayo Clinic faculty and staff engaged in research. Additionally, services are offered to non-Mayo investigators and research collaborators. For more information, please contact the core manager.
