  • Evaluation of an Artificial Intelligence Assistant in Managing Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections in Women Jacksonville, Fla.

    The long-term goal of this research is to evaluate the benefit of using an AI assistant in addressing acute care needs in Mayo Clinic Primary Care patients. This process will assess the simplicity of use, efficiency, convenience, and ease of access for Mayo Clinic Primary Care patients. Furthermore, it will evaluate the effectiveness of diagnosing, treating, and preparing documentation for primary care providers. If effective, this will reduce administrative burden, burnout, and unnecessary barriers to access. It will also improve quality measures, such as appropriate use of antibiotics and will drive a higher level of evidence-based medicine to improve patient outcomes.

    The purpose of this study is to design and build an electronic and/or paper card-based prototype of the ACUMEN decision aid, and to pilot ACUMEN choice during clinical encounters to assess its impact on the quality of healthcare Delivery and care experience.

  • Bewell360 HWC care model for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) patients and their caregivers (Bewell360) Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

    The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of the BeWell360 coaching care model to improve functional and experience-related outcomes of informal caregivers (CGs) of patients living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) due to Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) to create a foundational framework for future evaluation and implementation.

  • BeWell360-CG Care Model: Health and Wellness Coaching to Support Caregivers of Patients Living with Advanced Lung Cancers (BeWell 360) Jacksonville, Fla.

    Piloting the BeWell360-CG model, in conjunction with usual care delivery for lung cancer patients in Palliative Care, will longitudinally improve the wellbeing and quality of life of care givers within and outside of clinical care settings, in such a way as to positively impact the quality of care of patients themselves. We hypothesize that PC staff trained in the BeWell360-CG will be able to identify the most common CG-centric needs and guide CGs to improve their QoL and personal wellbeing. In doing so, we further hypothesize that there will be an improvement in patient-reported and quality of care outcomes.

    The objective of this proposal is to pilot a novel, scalable, user-friendly HWC care model– the BeWell360-CG— that is embedded and integrated as part of a palliative approach to care for CGs of patients with advanced lung cancer.

     

  • Health and Wellness Coaching for Mayo Employees with Type 2 Diabetes Coach-ME-T2D (Coach-ME-T2D) Jacksonville, Fla.

    The purpose of this mixed-methods study is to deploy the tenets of Health and Wellness Coaching (HWC) through a program called BeWell360 model, tailored to the needs of Healthcare Workers (HCWs) as patients living with poorly-controlled Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). The objective of this study is to pilot-test this novel, scalable, and sustainable BeWell360 model that is embedded and integrated as part of primary care for Mayo Clinic Employees within Mayo Clinic Florida who are identified as patients li)ving with poorly-controlled T2D.

    The purpose of this research is to evaluate the person-centered care model that integrates health and wellness coaching to standard of care and its impact on patients and their care partners within this chronic kidney disease care settings.

     

  • Shared Decision Making For Patients Living With Fibromyalgia Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla.

    The purpose of this study is to build the knowledge of in-situ clinical experiences essential to developing decision aids for patients considering treatment options for fibromyalgia. Using ethnographic study design, we aim to understand how patients and clinicians think, talk, and feel about treatment options for fibromyalgia by directly observing clinical encounters.
