Tethered Capsule Endomicroscopy Surveillance of Barrett’s Esophagus Following Endoscopic Eradication Therapy

About this study

The purpose of this study is to explore the acceptability of tethered capsule endomicroscopy (TCE) for Barrett’s Esophagus (BE) surveillance following CRIM. BE patients who have completed endoscopic eradication therapy (EET) will be offered TCE prior to undergoing a clinically indicated surveillance endoscopy.  

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Subjects age 18 or older.
  • Subjects who are capable of providing written informed consent.
  • Subjects who are able to follow fasting instructions as instructed by their standard of care endoscopy procedure protocol.
  • Subjects with a diagnosis of BE who have achieved CRIM.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Subjects under 18 years of age.
  • Subjects with esophageal fistula and/or esophageal strictures.
  • Subjects with the inability to swallow capsules.
  • Subjects with current symptoms of dysphagia.
  • Subjects with gastro-intestinal strictures with a diameter less than 8mm.
  • Concomitant chemotherapy treatment.
  • Pregnancy (can be self-reported).
