A Study to Evaluate the Effects of Insulin Deprivation on Rate of Plasma Proteins Synthesis in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of transient insulin deprivation in people with type 1 DM (T1DM) and Total Pancreatomy on synthesis of specific plasma proteins applying stable isotope-proteome approach.

 

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria - Type 1 Diabetes Group:

  • Age >18 to 45 years.
  • DM type 1 on CSII or MDI therapy.

Exclusion Criteria - Type 1 Diabetes Group:

  • Pregnancy.
  • HbA1c > 9 %.
  • Active cardiac, renal, or cerebrovascular disease (detailed in section V).

Inclusion Criteria - Control Group:

  • Male and female, age 18-45 years.
  • Have had total pancreatectomy and are on insulin treatment. 

Exclusion Criteria - Control Group:

  • Pregnancy.
  • HbA1c > 9 %.
  • Active cardiac, renal, or cerebrovascular disease (detailed in section V).
