A Study of Post-exercise Fatigue in Patients with ME and CFS

About this study

The primary objective of this study is to provide a better understanding of post-exercise malaise (PEM) within individuals diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS).

 

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Have a documented diagnosis of ME/CFS for at least 6 months.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Female subjects must not be pregnant or trying to become pregnant during the duration of study participation.
  • No known plans to move out of the state, or become unable to return to one of the Mayo Clinic sites for follow-up testing.
  • Must be able to provide clear informed written consent.
  • Complete a 2-day CPET as a part of their clinical care.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Individuals < 18 years of age.
  • Major orthopedic limitations to exercise.
