A Study to Evaluate Heart Failure Biomarker to Predict Cardiomyopathy After Acute Radiation

About this study

The purpose of this study are to evaluate whether serum sST2 levels increase after RT compared to troponin (as a control), and to correlate serum sST2 and troponin levels at completion of RT with cardiac radiation dosimetry.

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult males ≥ 18 years of age with lung cancer receiving thoracic radiation.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Vulnerable populations such as children, pregnant women and adults lacking the capacity to consent.
