Comparison of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Candidate Gene Homologs in Human and Rhesus Macaque Sudden Cardiac Death Victims

About this study

This study is designed to identify genes shared between humans with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and rhesus macaque primates who have experienced sudden cardiac death.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  1. Age 18 or older
  2. Have a diagnosis of HCM confirmed by transthoracic echocardiography
  3. Have survived sudden cardiac death, or:
  4. Received an appropriate shock after implantation of an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) for primary prevention
  5. Noted to have sustained VT on device interrogation

Exclusion Criteria:

  1. Diagnosis of HCM is uncertain
