Biophilic Office Design Study

Overview

About this study

This study aims to measure the effects of biophilic visual features and acoustic features on office worker's mood and connectedness to nature, stress levels, perceived productivity, attention restoration and cognitive performance.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Must be adults between the ages of 18 and 60
  • Ability to provide informed consent
  • Ability to relocate to the Well Living Lab for 10 consecutive weeks

 

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Individuals who are shift-workers
  • Individuals diagnosed with vascular diseases (i.e., Raynaud’s disease, peripheral artery disease, etc.)
  • Individuals with diagnosed neurological and psychiatric disorders
  • Drug (illegal or prescription narcotic), nicotine, or alcohol dependency
  • Women who are lactating, pregnant or intend to become pregnant during the duration of the study
  • Individuals who are taking medications (either prescribed or over-the-counter) which may affect stress levels
  • Individuals with known severe allergies to plants/trees
  • Individuals with moderate to severe hearing impairments (i.e., severe presbycusis)
  • Individuals with severe vision impairments
