Evaluation of NSR 7T Magnetic Resonance Imaging Hardware and Software

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate and develop new imaging techniques on the new MRI scanner.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Healthy adult male and female volunteers.
  • Age 18 years and older.
  • Must have a Mayo Clinic MRN number.
  • Healthy subjects must not have any confounding medical conditions.
  • Patients recruited must have a pre-determined diagnosis of the specific diseases listed below:
    • Epilepsy
    • Suspected Vasculitis
    • fMRI for Surgical Planning
    • Multiple Sclerosis
    • IAC and inner ear
    • Seizure
    • Pituitary lesions
    • Deep Brain Stimulation surgical planning
    • Tumor
    • Chronic traumatic injury
    • MSK joint
    • Peripheral vascular disease
    • Cerebellum / brain stem
    • Seizure
    • IAC and inner ear
    • Knee pathologies
    • Wrist
    • Elbow and Large Wrist
    • IAC and inner ear

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Implanted active devices such as cardiac defibrillators/pacemakers, deep brain stimulators, vagus nerve stimulators, intrathecal pumps, cochlear implants.
  • Certain metallic surgical clips (e.g., an aneurysm clip in the brain).
  • Colored contact lenses.
  • Large tattoos located close to the radiofrequency coil.
  • Body piercings that cannot be removed.
  • Metallic fragment in the eye.
  • Shrapnel, bullets, or buckshot in body.
  • Permanent facial makeup (for brain scanning).
  • Suffer from claustrophobia.
  • Pregnancy.
  • Fever / elevated temperature.
