Male Experiences with Fibromyalgia

About this study

The purpose of the study is to describe the experience of men diagnosed with fibromyalgia living in the United States. Specifically, this study will take into account the experiences of fibromyalgia within men, an underrepresented gender group in fibromyalgia research and treatment.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult men, 18-70 years
  • Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by a Mayo Clinic physician
  • Citizen of the United States
  • Speak English
  • Must be willing and able to provide oral consent and participate in both the survey and focus group

 

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Women
  • Minors
  • Men not diagnosed with Fibromyalgia
  • Men diagnosed with Dementia, Schizophrenia, and/or Bipolar
  • International patients
  • Patients who cannot provide consent or unwilling to participate in the focus group
