Evaluation of Exercise as Potential Prevention Strategy for Illicit Substance Relapses

About this study

The purpose of this study is to analyze if exercise can be an effective noninvasive and low risk treatment option in helping patients with alcohol abuse and/or illicit drug use to avoid or delay relapses or slips.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  1. Use of illicit substances (cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana, crack cocaine)
  2. Ability to consent for and participate in structured exercise program

Exclusion Criteria: 

  1. Medical conditions that would place subject in jeopardy during structured exercise sessions
