A Retrospective Study Evaluation of Colorectal Polyp Management at Mayo Clinic in Florida

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine the annual proportion of colorectal polypectomies during colonoscopy procedures that adhered to the standardized guidelines set up by the European Society for Gastrointestinal endoscopy (ESGE).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Any patient age more than the 50 years with any indication for colonoscopy and age more than 40 years if associated with a familial history of colon cancers.
  • The indications for colonoscopy could be Screening, Surveillance, Bleeding, Cancers, Abdominal pain/Constipation, Chronic diarrhea, abnormal; radiographs or Sigmoidoscopy.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Established CD
  • Established UC
  • Severe diverticulosis
  • Stenosis of the colon
  • Fulminant colitis
  • Documented diverticulitis
  • Liver failure or comorbid patients associated with the severe ascites
