About this study

The overall goal of this study is to help discover and better understand why some children with intellectual  and developmental disabilities self-injure.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Be referred to Dr. Patterson’s or Dr. Huebner’s clinic for evaluation regarding global developmental delay 
  • Between the ages of 2-12 years old

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Have serious accompanying health problems associated with terminal (e.g., lysosomal storage diseases) or neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., muscular dystrophy).
