A Study of Sexual Dysfunction in Patients with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy Undergoing Septal Myectomy

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine how many patients suffer from sexual function problems and ascertain if they are improved or modified by cardiac surgical intervention.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Patients over 18 years old who present with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) diagnosed by echocardiography and will undergo surgical myectomy regardless of comorbid conditions, medications, and past medical history.

Exclusion Criteria:

Patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) apical variant
Patients not undergoing surgical myectomy
Patients without sexual partners or who don’t engage in sexual activity.
