A Study of Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction After Surgery to Remove Part of the Large Intestine for Chronic Constipation Caused by Slow Transport of Waste

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the long term outcomes and patient satisfaction for patients who had a partial removal of the large intestine for chronic constipation that was caused by the slow transport of waste.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

Male or female
Between ages 18 and 70 years
Had subtotal colectomy for slow transit constipation

Exclusion Criteria

Death before ability to conduct phone interview with the patient
Insufficient follow up after surgery (less than 1 year)
Original surgery performed at a different medical center
Had a documented ileostomy following the subtotal colectomy
