A Study of Participant Preferences for Education and Decision Making in K-ras Tumor Molecular Testing for Colorectal Cancer

About this study

The purpose of this study is to describe knowledge about and quality of physician/patient communication surround tumor testing for K-ras to inform treatment and/or prognosis or to enhance cancer management in patients w/sporadic CRC. Evaluate decision-making satisfaction and decisional conflict surrounding the use of K-ras molecular testing to enhance cancer management. Identify educational needs and preferences of patients to enhance use of molecular testing for cancer treatment decision-making.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Age 18 and older males and females
Patients with sporadic colorectal cancer where molecular tumor testing for K-ras within 60 days

Exclusion Criteria:

Patients with known hereditary CRC syndromes such as Hereditary Non Polyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC) or Familial Adenomatous Polyposis ( FAP)
Patients whose tumors show loss of MMR proteins except hMLH1
Those whose health status or cognitive status would interfere with participation
Anyone under the age of 18 is excluded.
