Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Candidate Gene Homologs in Human and Rhesus Macaque Sudden Cardiac Death Victims

About this study

The aim of this study is to identify genes shared between humans and rhesus macaque primates who have been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and have died suddenly.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age 18 or older
  • Have a diagnosis of HCM confirmed by transthoracic echocardiography
  • Have survived sudden cardiac death
  • Received an appropriate shock after implantation of an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) for primary prevention

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Have never died suddenly
  • Have never had an appropriate shock from an ICD placed for primary prevention
