Ultrasound-based Characterization of Skeletal Muscle

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if disorders such as immune-mediated myopathies and myotonic dystrophy can affect the mechanical properties of muscle which can be detected using ultrasound-based methods.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • The healthy subjects will have no history of muscular or neurological disorders.
  • The patient population will have positive diagnosis of their muscular disorder either from a previous muscle biopsy or genetic tests.
  • All subjects will be ages 18-85.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Healthy subjects with any history of muscular or neurological disorders.
  • Patients with PM, DM, and overlap myositis and scleroderma patients.
