A Study to See if Clinical Cardiac MRI Scanning Can Cause DNA Damage

About this study

The long-term goal of this research program is to clarify the potential mutation causing and cancer causing risk posed by clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

Adults, >18 years
Scheduled to undergo any elective cardiac MR, cardiac CT, or echocardiogram exam at Mayo

Exclusion Criteria

History of malignancy
Received radiation therapy or chemotherapy immediately prior to exam
Had immunosuppressant drugs at the time of their exam
Underwent any MR or CT within 7 days prior to their exam
