A Study Comparing the Results of Using Irradiated versus Non-Irradiated Grafts for ACL (Knee Ligament) Reconstruction

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical results from knee  reconstruction surgery with an irradiated versus a non-irradiated ligament graft.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • >18 years
  • Underwent primary ACL reconstruction between January 31, 2000 and January 31, 2011 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota 
  • Surgery utilized either irradiated or non-irradiated allografts 

 

Exclusion Criteria

  • Prior ipsilateral knee surgery
  • Prior ligament reconstruction
  • Multi-ligament knee injury 
  • Have associated ipsilateral fractures
