A Study Comparing Surgical to Nonsurgical Treatment of Collar Bone Fractures

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare the outcomes and resource utilization of surgical versus nonsurgical treatments of collar bone fractures.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria    

  • Over the age of 10 years
  • Were residents of Olmsted County and had a clavicle fracture between 1990 and 2012

Exclusion Criteria   

  • Bilateral upper extremity injury
  • Pathologic fractures
  • Hemiparesis/underlying neuromuscular condition
  • No injury films
