A Study to Compare the Addition of a Mobile Health App to Standard Care versus Standard Care Alone in Patients Discharged from the Hospital after a Stroke

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the Better Mobile Health App for use by patients after hospital discharge for a stroke by using satisfaction survey ratings and hospital readmission rates. The Better App provides a personal health assistant who assists in coordination of care. The app is provided in addition to standard care and compared to the use of standard care alone.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • 18 years or older
  • Patient must have been hospitalized for ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, or transient ischemic attack
  • Patient or their legally authorized representative (LAR) has a smart phone or tablet and is able to download the Spot a Stroke F.A.S.T. and Better Apps

 

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patient or their LAR does not have a smart phone or tablet
  • Patient or their LAR is unable to download the Spot a Stroke F.A.S.T.  and Better apps
  • Patient or their LAR is unable to manipulate and operate the phone or tablet cognitively or physically
  • Is being discharged to hospice
  • Is pregnant
