A Study of Infections and Other Complications of Patients Hospitalized with Liver Cirrhosis

About this study

The purpose of this study is to find out how the survival rate of patients with cirrhosis can be improved when admitted to the hospital with complications such as infections.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

cirrhosis of the liver
admitted to the hospital for non-elective purposes.
- Patients will have a choice to allow the study personnel to collect blood, urine and stool for future analysis at this time.
- local site coordinator in conjunction with the local PI will determine eligibility
patients or their legal guardians will give informed consent before participating in this study.
