Consortium
A consortium within the Transplant Immunology Program facilitates innovative clinical and translational research in solid organ transplant through partnerships among like-minded clinical centers, researchers, industry and funding agencies.
This multicenter transplant alliance allows clinical studies to be performed with greater efficiency, quality and innovation.
Other benefits of our transplant consortium include:
- Providing the infrastructure for one-stop shopping, including contracting, protocol development, uniform data collection and other services, with a goal of decreasing time from concept to initiation
- Bringing together collaborative, high-volume centers (total of more than 1,000 kidney transplants a year) with streamlined enrollment and decreased time to completion of studies
- Performing similar detailed follow-up throughout the consortium as part of standard care, including surveillance renal allograft biopsies, central pathology and central alloantibody testing
- Biobanking of allograft tissue and serum
- Giving staff dedicated time for consortium research activities
The areas of greatest research interest to the transplant consortium are:
- Renal transplantation and the development of intervention trials
- Development of a multicenter data warehouse for all types of studies, both prospective and retrospective
- Widening breadth of data available beyond large registries and single centers
