Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, offers a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Child/Pediatric Psychology. The fellowship will prepare doctoral level clinical or counseling psychologists from American Psychological Association-accredited graduate programs and internships for professional careers in academic health science centers and children's hospitals.

Fellows will participate in the diverse practice of clinical child/pediatric psychology in the rich clinical, research and educational environment of Mayo Clinic. The faculty of seven child psychologists and seven child psychiatrists has an extensive range of clinical and research expertise. Those interested in child anxiety can participate in the assessment, treatment and research opportunities through the Pediatric Anxiety Disorders Program.

Fellows will also have an opportunity to train with postdoctoral fellows in clinical health psychology and clinical neuropsychology. Training sites include the Eugenio Litta Children's Hospital, the child and adolescent psychiatric unit, and numerous outpatient opportunities in clinical psychology (psychotherapy, family therapy, mood disorders, eating disorders, and assessment) and pediatric psychology (hematology/oncology, endocrinology, pain management, elimination disorders).

The fellows involve themselves in a range of pediatric specialties, including, but not limited to, developmental and behavioral, endocrinology, hematology, neurology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Training in primary care in the Department of Family Medicine also is available.

Overall the medical psychology fellows experience in each subspecialty track combines clinical, educational and research activities, with 30 percent devoted to research. Fellowship positions begin July 1. Applicants must submit a letter of interest, transcripts, curriculum vitae, completed application and at least three letters of reference. The application deadline is mid-January.
