Drug Discovery: Targeting Cellular Senescence and Its Secretome During Skeletal Injury and Repair

Dr. Chandra's laboratory is developing a practical therapeutic intervention to mitigate osteoporosis induced by hormone depletion, aging or radiotherapy by targeting underlying mechanisms. At the heart of our research are state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies. We employ a multidisciplinary approach, combining in silico, in vitro and in vivo approaches. We also use genomics, proteomics, computational biology and advanced imaging techniques. This comprehensive strategy enables us to identify novel targets and pathways that are crucial in the aging process and osteoporosis.

Our drug discovery pipeline is robust, incorporating both high-throughput screening and precision medicine concepts to develop targeted therapies that address the specific needs of people with osteoporosis. Over the last several years, the lab has successfully targeted DNA damage, apoptosis and cellular senescence as mechanisms that regulate age- and disease-related bone loss.
